Legacy of Naxxramas — Setup Files

Private 3.3.5a server with custom scaling gear and abilities. No launcher — check the patch version below each time you play.

How to know if you need to update: Check versions.txt (no password needed) and compare the date there against the modification date of your local patch-A.MPQ. If the file's date is newer, re-download it.
Can't connect (2026-07-27)? realmlist.wtf changed from a raw IP address to the hostname wow.wdgsarge.com — the old IP-based file went stale whenever the server's address changed and had no way to update itself. Re-download realmlist.wtf below (or run the updater) and confirm your local copy reads set realmlist wow.wdgsarge.com, not an IP address.

realmlist.wtf 2026-07-27 Now points at the hostname wow.wdgsarge.com instead of a raw IP, so it stays correct automatically when the server's address changes
patch-A.MPQ 2026-07-27 All custom display data — full 465-item BiS catalog with scaling stats, full trinket/spell set, ARAC race/class data, new necklace-ability Rune enchants, all in one file
WDGSarge_3.3.5a.zip 2026-07-01 Full pre-patched client — already includes patch-9.MPQ above

Option A: Don't have a 3.3.5a client yet (recommended)

Download the full, pre-configured client — patch already included:
WDGSarge_3.3.5a.zip (~17.9 GB)
Unzip it anywhere and run Wow.exe. Nothing else needed.

Option B: Automated updater (Linux — Steam Deck / SteamOS / Bazzite)

update-patch.sh (no password needed)
Save it into your WoW folder (same folder as Wow.exe), then in a terminal there:
chmod +x update-patch.sh && ./update-patch.sh
It checks what you already have, downloads only what changed, and verifies each file before applying it. Safe to re-run any time — leave it in the folder and run it again whenever you're about to play.

Option B: Automated updater (Windows)

update-patch.ps1 (no password needed)
Save it into your WoW folder (same folder as Wow.exe), then right-click it and choose Run with PowerShell.
If Windows blocks it (unsigned script), open PowerShell in that folder instead and run:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File update-patch.ps1
Same behavior as the Linux version — checks what you already have, downloads only what changed, and verifies each file before applying it. Safe to re-run any time.

Option C: Already have a 3.3.5a client, patching manually (ChromieCraft or similar)

If you have patch-9.MPQ through patch-16.MPQ from before 2026-07-16, delete them all first. The double-digit names (patch-10 and up) were never actually recognized by the WotLK 3.3.5a client -- it only looks for patch-1.MPQ through patch-9.MPQ, then patch-A.MPQ through patch-Z.MPQ. Everything has been consolidated into the single correctly-named file below.
realmlist.wtf updated 2026-07-27 → place at World of Warcraft\Data\enUS\realmlist.wtf (replace enUS with your locale folder — overwrite existing. 2026-07-27: now points at wow.wdgsarge.com instead of a raw IP — re-download if your client can't connect)
patch-A.MPQ updated 2026-07-28 → place at World of Warcraft\Data\patch-A.MPQ (directly in Data, not a locale subfolder — single combined archive: ScalingStatDistribution.dbc, full Spell.dbc, full Item.dbc, SpellItemEnchantment.dbc, and ARAC race/class data, all in one file. 2026-07-28: added SpellItemEnchantment.dbc so Rune-enchanted armor now shows the "Enchanted: X" line on its own tooltip. 2026-07-27: fixed a stat-truncation bug affecting 425 of the 465 custom BiS items — tooltips now show the full correct stat list (e.g. Crit Rating, Armor Penetration) instead of a cut-down 4-stat version, plus 97 new "Rune of X" enchant items/spells and the earlier Hit Rating gap fix across 6 specs' gear — see versions.txt for full detail)
patch-enUS-4.MPQ updated 2026-07-02 → place at World of Warcraft\Data\enUS\patch-enUS-4.MPQ (in the enUS subfolder inside Data — overwrite if one already exists)

Restart the client after placing all files, then delete your Cache folder before logging in.

What the patch does

patch-A.MPQ is a single file that contains everything the client needs: scaling stat display for Legacy gear, real stats/display for every custom armor and necklace item, icons/tooltips for every custom class-buff ability, and ARAC race/class data. Without it, custom items show a red question mark with no stats, and custom abilities show blank/missing tooltips -- though the actual server-side mechanics still function regardless.

When the patch is updated, you only need to re-download this one file and overwrite your existing copy.
